A mobile environmental court in Umuahia on Saturday convicted 96 of 108 persons arrested for trading and loitering during Abia’s monthly clean-up. Ten were discharged as students, while two were freed on health grounds.
Commissioner for Environment, Philemon Ogbonna, said the exercise supports Governor Alex Otti’s drive for a cleaner, disease-free state. He also announced plans to establish a mobile court at Orie Ugba Market to prosecute environmental offenders.
