The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four key national officers following a court order that stopped the party’s planned national convention.
Those affected include the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature.
The suspension, which will last for one month, was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, after an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Saturday at the party’s Legacy House, Abuja.
According to Ologunagba, the decision was taken in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution and the affected officers have been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further action.
The move comes less than 24 hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order stopping the PDP from holding its 2025 National Convention, a decision that has thrown the opposition party into fresh internal turmoil.
