An activist, Tunde Alade has observed that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu cannot secure the second term ticket through the influence of “Amotekun” security outfit.
However, he said the governor’s achievements in the last three years could spur the citizenry to support him.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had released the timetable and schedule of activities for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States.
According to the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the commission will conduct the poll in Edo on September 19 while that of Ondo will take place on October 10, 2020.
However, the Akure-born politician in a statement said” Akeredolu should perish the thought of using Amotekun to win the hearts of the people of Ondo State.
“Amotekun is different from Community policing, and they cannot join the two outfits together. No governor or politician can use Amotekun for his political ambition.”
Besides, Alade urgent President Muhammadu Buhari to release all the activists detained unjustly by security personnel.
He said” I am calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to order for the immediate release of my fellow activists who are currently in different prisons in Nigeria.
“We are not under the military government where freedom of speech is not allowed. I am highly disappointed in the administration of President Buhari.
“There are several Nigerians languishing in prison custody over the years under and this government has continued to keep them.
“Buhari has violated Constitutional Breaches, according to ILO on conversation Extending nephew’s service, and other Constitutional Legal breaches by the Federal Government in the last 4 years,” he stated.
Alade, however, threatened to approach the court of law to file suit to force the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against the President if failed to listen to the cries of Nigerians.
