Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has presented six operational vehicles to enhance surveillance on Mafa – Dikwa – Gamboru road after its reopening by the Nigerian military on Sunday.
The Governor presented the vehicles after a brief interactive session with the military led by the Theatre Commander Maj. Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi.
During the interactive session, Zulum and the Theatre Commander warned the transport unions and security personnel to desist from extorting commuters. They both assured the business community as well as other commuters plying the road of adequate security.
In the same vein, the Gamboru fishing community has been urged to cooperate and share information with the military while carrying out their legitimate business. Maj Gen Adeniyi sound the warning during the interactive session. He said the military is ready to provide enabling environment for the fishing community to thrive, but warned that under no circumstances should the community pay money or any form of assistance or gratification to the Boko haram.
The Theatre Commander thanked the Governor for providing the vehicles and assured him that it will be maximally utilised. The Governor in company of the theatre Commander cut the rope indicating the official reopening of the road.
