The leadership of the National Assembly is currently meeting with a delegation from the executive and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the state of the economy, the planned review of the 2020 budget and Federal Government’s plan to mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Present at the meeting is the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Deputy President of the Senate , Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Wase and other principal officers of both chambers.
Others are the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva and other stakeholders in the management of the Nigerian economy.
According to an aide of the President of the Senate, Abubakar Sadiq Usman, who announced this on his Facebook wall, “The outbreak of COVID-19 and the Crude Oil price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia has greatly impacted the country’s economic realities and projections with consequential effects in virtually all sectors of the economy, thus necessitating a review plan.”
