Abiodun Adesina of Eyewitnessreporters has narrated the transition of Mrs Phebean Ajibola Ogundipe. A decidedly dedicated patriot in education, Ogundipe taught multiple generations of people appropriate usage of English language in classrooms but mainly through her textbooks that came highly recommended for use in teaching English language.
Born May 16, 1927, Ogundipe, prominent educationist, author and co-author of many English language textbooks, died March 27, 2020 at Charlotte, North Carolina, in the United States, where she was buried the same day she passed.
According to Eyewitness Media, Mrs Ogundipe, popularly known as P.A. Ogundipe, was famous for English Language books such as ‘Brighter Grammar’ series which she co-authored with M. Macaulay and C.E. Eckersley; ‘New Practical English for Senior Secondary’ series which she co-authored with P.S. Tregidgo; ‘Up-country Girl: A personal journey’, a novel; and truthful portrayal of African culture, among others.

“A burial was held on Friday, March 27th 2020 at 11:00 AM.” A family source revealed.
EyewitnessMedia also stated that Mrs Ogundipe (nee Itayemi) was born in Esa Oke, Osun State and got married to Mr Adebayo Ogundipe in 1954. She was educated at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and the Institute of Education, University of London.
Ogundipe was said to have returned to Nigeria after her study in the United Kingdom, and became Senior Education Officer and later Inspector of Education in the defunct Western State of Nigeria. She later became the Principal of the Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo State.
In 1979, the Federal Government awarded her the national honour of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
