Campaigning begins in Burundi for next month’s presidential elections irrespective of accusations of intimidation and downplaying of COVID-19 pandemic against the government of President Pierre Nkurunziza.
The opposition says it has been the target of violence and intimidation in the run-up to the May 20 vote which would be held despite the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country.
