Hadiza El-Rufai, wife of the Kaduna state governor, says she has spoken with Bello, her son, adding that sexual abuse should never be used as ammunition during private or public conversations.
Bello had faulted President Donald Trump’s strategy against the COVID-19 crisis while criticizing some Nigerian governors in a series of tweets that degenerated into a heated argument with a Twitter user.
“This Daddy’s boy has heard your mother’s ability to take d**k is mindblowing. Especially one dipped in kerosene from Abia land,” Bello had replied the Twitter user for dubbing him daddy’s boy.
“Sounds about fair. Despite the ineptitude, he is completing a bridge your Ebele couldn’t. You’re stuck with PMB and can’t do shit. How’s failed, Daddy.
“Oh and tell your mother I’m passing her to my friends tonight. No Igbo sounds, please! Tueh.”
The comment came after the Twitter user, named Consigliere, had kicked against Bello’s view on Trump, stating the the US president was miles ahead of Muhammadu Buhari and Bello’s father in terms of quality leadership.
In the wake of the heated war of words, Hadiza had earlier distanced herself from the controversy after being mentioned by the Twitter user, saying, “Don’t @ me. Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.”
However, in a new development, the first lady of Kaduna apologised for her reaction, stating that she had only mistaken the issue for a minor Twitter scuffle (gbas-gbos).
“When I posted the tweet below, I assumed it was just the usual Twitter ‘gbas-gbos’. Having read the tweets chronologically, I have had conversations with Bello,” the governor’s wife wrote.
“Never ever should sexual abuse be employed as ammunition in public/ private exchanges, no matter the provocation.
“I can see how my tweet may have come across, and I apologise to those who were offended by it. I say, once again, that I’d never condone sexual abuse in any shape or form.”
The tweet, which first incited Bello, had read: “I don’t shield anyone who’s inept. I can’t say the same about you. You’re daddy’s boy and of course, nobody attacks the finger that feeds them.
“Buhari’s ineptitude is mind-blowing. Yes I said it and you’re not going to make me disappear.”
