The Kaduna State Police Command on Wednesday said it had neutralised 100 bandits in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force across the state in three months.
It also said it had arrested 986 suspects over the violation of the lockdown order in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Umar Muri, who made this known at a press conference, said 48 of the suspects were religious and liquor sellers and had been charged to court.
He said, “The Kaduna State Police Command in its bid to enforce the lockdown and social distancing orders imposed by the Kaduna State Government, which took effect from 26th March, 2020 to date, with a view to curbing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state and environs; has arrested 986 violators across the state amongst which forty-eight (48) suspects who are mostly religious leaders and beer parlour operators have been charged to court.”
Meanwhile, the commissioner said with the component of the Nigerian Air Force, the command had neutralised 100 bandits across the state.
This was apart from the 250 bandits neutralised at the Kuduru Forest in Birnin Gwari and Giwa areas by the operatives from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
In all, the command said, between February and March, 2020, in collaboration with another sister security agency (Nigerian Air Force), killed 350 bandits while several camps belonging to the bandits were destroyed.
