Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with Ibrahim Gambari, chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, at the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday.
Also present at the meeting were some members of APC national working committee (NWC).
Inuwa Abdulkadir, national vice chairman (north-west), Adamu Panda, national treasurer, and two others attended the meeting at the Gambari’s office.
The meeting may not be unconnected with the current crisis on the selection of the party’s governorship candidate for the Edo state election.
The APC screening committee had disqualified Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo, from participating in the governorship primary scheduled to hold on June 22, 2020 while Osagie Ize-Iyamu believed to be supported by Oshiomhole was cleared.
Ize-Iyamu, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in 2016, lost the election to Obaseki.
He defected to the APC after Oshiomhole and Obaseki fell out.
There are indications that Obaseki would move to the PDP. TheCable had reported how ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar wooed him for the opposition party.
A day after a telephone conversation with Atiku, he met with Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, and Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom who are both of the PDP.
The governor had said he would make his next move on the election known after meeting Buhari.
