LAGOS State Coordinator of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) Alhaji Mutairu Adesina has denied he threatened Prince Segun Akanni, ex-Chief of Staff (CoS) to Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams.
Adesina said the ex-CoS was plotting such to perfect his plan to seek asylum in Canada.
In an interview published by a magazine, Akanni said he was “attacked at Mobil Filling Station in Gbagada, Lagos, by some OPC members on the instruction of my former boss,” Adams, who he served for 17 years.
The Lagos OPC coordinator described Akanni as an ingrate, wondering why he had resorted to propaganda, blackmailing, and lying against Adams – to seek asylum in Canada.
He said it was better desicable of him to bite the fingers that had fed him.
Adesina said: “I have read the stories in the social media and I wondered how he had decided to toe such ignominious path with uncanny ignominy. In the last few weeks, he has been trying to seek asylum in Canada through the back door and one of his strategies was to go to the media alleging threat to his life.
“There’s nothing strange about what Akanni did. Liars, they say, always have short memories and people can be so dishonourable that they forget the past. But truth is, we must remind him that the Office of Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland is so sacred and big for such a featherweight to put to disrepute. That is why we have decided not to issue any statement on this, but as a chieftain of the group, I think it is necessary for me to put the record straight on his various lies against our boss,” he said.
