Oyo House of Assembly has denied being contacted on the speculative death of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Thursday.
Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin on Friday debunked receiving such report.
The media was on Thursday evening awashed with reports claiming Ajimobi had died and the news had been transmitted to the Assembly for onward passage to Governor Seyi Makinde and entire state.
Speaking on the issue during Friday plenary, Ogundoyin said he was shocked to hear the rumour, stating at no time was the House contacted or informed.
He added instead of thinking of the death of the former governor, people should support him with prayers and quick recovery.
Ogundoyin said “I want to speak on the claims that some sort of information action was passed to the House of Assembly and as I said earlier on the rumour of the demise of the former governor Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
“I am here to debunk it that no such news was relayed to me, nobody called me in relations to anybody’s death and to my surprise the Deputy Speaker called me yesterday informing me of the spread of the information including the insinuation that a message had been sent to the Speaker to relate it to the state concerning the death of the former Governor Abiola.
“The information is false, a lie and I stand to debunk that today. And also, on behalf of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the people of Oyo State, we pray for long life, good health, quick recovery for our former Governor and we pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen his family in this time and we also pray that after all the said and done, we shall all gather together to give God the glory for the good health of the former Governor.
“We know that God’s will shall be done and we also appeal to the people of Oyo State to continue in prayers for the former Governor.”
