In continuation of her ongoing empowerment programme, the First Lady of Kwara state and Founder Ajike People’s Support Center, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq today Friday 28th August distributed set of make up kits to women and youths who benefitted from the just concluded beauty and make over training sponsored by the First Lady and the Ajike People Support Center.
According to the first lady, beauty and fashion is a multi-million naira industry that, when properly harnessed, can create jobs for the teeming unemployed and even under employed women and youths in the society.
She explained that the event was part of her office’s effort at enhancing the standard of living of beneficiaries by creating employment and also cushioning the challenges faced by citizens amidst the corona virus pandemic.
While stressing the importance of technical, vocational and educational training Dr Abdulrazaq noted that development of vocational skills will go a long way in dissipating the army of unemployed youths in the society.
In her remarks at the occasion, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mrs. Joanna Kolo agreed that the empowerment will go a long way in ensuring a better life for the beneficiaries and commended Dr. Abdulrazaq and the Ajike People’s Support Centre for the gesture.
The Commissioner further appreciated the efforts of the first lady for empowering youths and women in the state and urged beneficiaries to make use of the opportunity for their own betterment.
Also speaking at the event the Commissioner for Social Development Mrs Abosede Aremu appreciated Dr Mrs Abdulrasaq for her motherly role and urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the knowledge and skills they have acquired and the kits received to better their lot.
She stated that the efforts of the first lady is a clear indication that the present administration in the state is working and called on Kwarans to rally round the present administration in the state for the success of all.
The trainer, Mrs. Shola Abdulkareem (Shanny’s makeover) said the one month training acquired by the beneficiaries has given them enough knowledge required to be useful and independent. She further appreciated the First Lady for impacting positively on the lives of the people.
Ali Adedoyin, a beneficiary in her response thanked the First Lady, she prayed for God’s blessings and protection on her.
Another beneficiary, Risikat Abdulazeez prayed for a successful administration tenure while promising that the equipment would be wisely used for the benefit and growth of the society.
In the words of Obafaye Sarah “I appreciate all that Her Excellency is doing to build the future of youths, especially women and young entrepreneurs. The empowerment will assist me to be more self reliant and I am really grateful for this.”
Forty one women and Youths benefitted from the exercise and they were presented with Certificates as well as start up kits at the event.
It would be recalled that Her Excellency Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq through this routine exercise in the last couple of
months has trained and empowered over four hundred people and presented them with work tools that range from sewing machines,hair dryers make up kits and grinding machines to practice their trade, while over four thousand women and Youths have equally been trained in different vocations in conjunction with other Support groups over the last one year.
