The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has made an arrest of not less than eight persons, including two young ladies, suspected to be a kidnapping syndicate in Iseyin town.
The suspects, according to a press release from the Office of the Civic Defence Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Corps, Olusegun Oluwole, said that the suspects were arrested by the Agro Rangers squad of the Corps, Oyo State Command.
SP. Oluwole confirmed in the press release on Friday evening, that the eight arrested kidnappers have been terrorizing the residents of Ado Awaye, Araromi Lcda, Okaka and Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government and Ilero in Iwa Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The names and identities of the suspects according to the release were given as, Umaru Lawal (25-year-old male from Ado-Awaye), Umaru Saliu (27-year-old male from Ado-Awaye), Abase Musa (30-year-old male,from Odo-Ogun Iseyin), Barika Idris (male from Ipapo Itesiwaju LGA), Abdulahi Kanti (25-year-old male from Odo-Ogun Iseyin Town), Boto Dengi (30-year-old male from Fasola Oyo), Fatimo Kiri (18-year-old female from Ilero) and Adiza Adamu (20-year-old female from Ilero, Iwa LCDA).
According to the statement by the State Commandant of NSCDC Oyo State Command, Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya, “the incident happened at around 2115hrs on Thursday 20th of this month one Chief Jowuro Oke-Ogun Alhaji Baani Abubakar call on Agro Rangers Oke-Ogun Axis that the run away suspected kidnappers that has been operating in Ado-Awaye, Araromi LCDA, Okaka and Otu in Itesiwaju local Government and Ilero Lcda were spotted in Bobajiroro Hotel, Oke Adeta, Iseyin.
“At the Bobajiroro Hotel Six male and two female Bororo suspects were arrested.
“During cross examination of the suspects, the trailed suspect to the scene of the arrest Umaru Lawal M 25yrs, “m” declared that the number used in tracking him belong to his friend.
“Further interrogation revealed that those numbers were stored on his phone with different codes such as 52,42,33 etc. Umaru later agreed to help the corps in getting his friend.
Items recovered from the suspected kidnappers includes, Two Boxer Red Motorcycles with registration numbers BDJ 580 UL, EGB 628 UF, 4 Tecno phones, 1 QUP phone, 2 Itel phones, sum of N32,510 (Thirty-two thousand five hundred and ten naira).
The Commandant however Stated that the suspects will be handed over to Oyo State Police Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation and prosecution.
