KANO State Government has fixed October 26, 2020 as the date for the reopening of its tertiary institutions after seven months of closure.
The state Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mariya Bunkure, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen on Monday night.
The state had on Monday reopened nursery, primary and secondary schools for the students, excluding the JSS 1 and SS1 classes.
Bunkure said the state government had put measures in place in terms of fumigation and providing personal protective equipment against the spread of the COVID-19 disease in the schools.
“We have resolved to reopen the schools based on the achievement recorded on the number of active cases of COVID-19, which has dropped in the state as well as the directive by the Presidential Task Force Committee to reopen the schools.
The state-owned tertiary institutions are Kano University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, School of Nursing, Yusuf Maitama University and Kano State Polytechnic among others.
