The Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, has threatened to curse whoever would want to cause violence before, during and after the Ondo election.
The Akure monarch, who condemned the act of violence that occurred in the town last Sunday, urged youths to shun the act, saying the palace would not take the issue of violence with levity .
Oba Aladetoyinbo stated this while meeting with representatives of political parties, youth leaders and security personnel in his palace in Akure, the state capital, on Wednesday.
The first class monarch, who was represented, by the Elemo of Akure, High Chief Segun Adedipe said, “I will curse anybody who wants to cause violence in the election.”
Also speaking at the meeting, another traditional ruler, the Akanpinsa of Ipinsa, Oba Olufunmilayo Omoniyi, also appealed to parties to avoid violence so that the state would not have a repeat of 1983 crisis which led to the destruction of property and loss of lives.
Oba Omoniyi urged all stakeholders to embrace peace during and after the October 10 governorship election.
