The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Sokoto office, has disconnected the home former President Shehu Aliyu Shagari over N5m debt.
According to the Daily Star, the house of the late Nigerian leader situated at Sama Road area in Sokoto State was disconnected on Wednesday.
A KAEDCO staff had presented a bill of N6m to the late president’s family as cumulative amount they were owing the company.
But the family said the state government usually paid the bills.
The spokesman of Kaduna Electric, Abdulaziz Abdullahi, confirmed the disconnection to Daily Nigerian, saying the bill has not been paid since Shagari’s death.
“The company has given enough grace for them to settle the bills before the disconnection,” Abdullahi said.
