Gunmen on Thursday afternoon snatched a bus belonging to a community secondary, Awgbu, in Orumba South local government area of Anambra state.
An eyewitness, Mr. Uche Nwankwo, who described the gunmen as “bandits,” said the incident occurred at the school premises at about noon on Thursday.
“The robbers, numbering about five invaded Community High School, Awgbu at about noon, surrendered the school bus driver and drove away with the school Sienna bus with registration number OGB 170 AN. The bus is dark blue in color, with Community High School, Awgbu boldly written on it.”
Confirming the report, the police public relations officer, Anambra state police Command, Mr. Haruna Muhammed, a chief superintendent of police (CSP), said the incident as reported to them occurred on Thursday at noon.
“Yes, there was a report of car-snatching and effort is on-going to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the car,” Muhammed responded in a WhatsApp message.
