The 53 passengers of a Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) bus who were abducted last week have been reunited with their families.
Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger state governor, announced their release on Sunday, and said securing the freedom of the victims was the result of “dialogue and hard work”.
Bello announced the arrival of the passengers at the government house in the early hours of Monday.
They were kidnapped on February 14, when gunmen ambushed their bus, while returning from a wedding in Rijau local government area (LGA) of the state.
