Some Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed two staff of the Federal Polythechnic, Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State.
The two staff were Usama Nazifi, 37 years and Bashiru Muhammad, 39 years old.
The gunmen numbering about 6 were said to have stormed the Low cost area of Kaura Namoda at about 3am on Wednesday morning carrying AK47 riffles and knocking houses asking residents to open their doors.
A resident who did not want his name mentioned explained that the bandits jumped into Nazifi’s House asking him to open his room but he resorted to shouting calling for assistance.
The eyewitness said the bandits withdrew while Nazifi called his neighbour Bashiru and they went out of their houses discussing the issue along with one student not knowing that, the bandits were still in the area hidden in an uncompleted building.
The gunmen reportedly energed from their hideout and opened fire on the two Polythechnic staff.
The eyewitness added that, Nazifi was shot on his head and chest while Bashiru was shot on his stomach resulting to instant death
The deceased have been buried according to islamic rites.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the funeral the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Engineer Muhammad Bande, described the attack as unfortunate, barbaric and condemnable, saying the two staff were hard working and amiable. He prayed Allah to grant them Paradise as their final abode.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations officer of thw Zamfara State Police Command, SP Shehu Muhammad who confirmed the incident said, Police operatives were on the trail of the assailants
