The Police Command in Delta State, on Friday said its operatives foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued a married couple in the State.
The Command’s Acting Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, in a press statement, said that the Command recorded success in its relentless effort to curb the menace of kidnapping, armed robbery, illicit drug dealing among others in the state.
According to DSP Edafe, “Proactive policing does not only reduce crime, but when swift measures are taken, it can also save life, and properties, that is why the Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA,PSC+ has continuously emphasize on the need for members of the public to always give timely information to the Police that will help the police in arresting these criminal element in order to have a Safer Delta.
“On 15th April 2021 at about 2040hrs while men of ‘A’ Division Warri Patrol team were on routine Aberdeen system of patrol, they heard gun shots suspected to have been released by armed robbers/kidnappers around Odiaen junction in Warri, for the professionally strategic location and instinctive reflex of the patrol team, the team swiftly traced the location where the gunshot was heard.
The Spokesman further said that, “As the patrol team closed in on the hoodlums, they quickly abandon the victims and shot sporadically and escaped into the bush. They abandoned one tricycle Reg. NO DELTA EFR 060 WZ and one GSM phone, two expended cartridges were recovered from the scene. A married couple one Alfred Erheren ‘m’ age 41yrs and Stella Maris ‘f’ age 39yrs who caught up by a distant stray bullet pellets from the hoodlums were rescued by the police and taken to the hospital where they were treated and discharged.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Delta state CP Ari Muhammed Ali has mandated that all DPOs ensure that this tempo be sustained and improved upon until these unwanted elements are wiped out completely meanwhile investigation is ongoing while serious manhunt for the fleeing hoodlums continues. Members of the public are enjoined to give any useful information to the police that will aid the police in bringing these hoodlums to book.
“Also on 15/04/2021 at about 1500hrs as part of the Commissioner of Police Delta state CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+ resolve to take the battle to criminal elements by continuous raiding of black spots/criminal hideouts, the Divisional Police Officer a Division Warri CSP T.Y. Mahmud mobilized quick response team from ‘A’ Division Warri and stormed a black spot at Jeddo by Hausa Quarters where one Obong Jeremiah Ebe (m) age 26yrs a native of Eseen Udim LGA of Akwa Ibom State was arrested with 16 wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine.
