The German Government has said it will back the establishment of a German-West African Centre for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention in Ghana.
This was announced by Christoph Retzlaff, the German Ambassador to Ghana, on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
This development comes less than a week after Twitter also announced that it would be setting up its African headquarters in Ghana.
The decision from the company sparked debates online, with users of the microblogging platform and the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) saying the development is an indictment on the Nigerian government.
But the Federal Government blamed unpatriotic Nigerians for Twitter’s choice, with Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, claiming that the country was demarketed by the same persons.
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also played down the development, insisting that Nigeria remains the top destination for investment on the African continent.
