A man, Anthony Ikpeama, has been arrested after he allegedly beat his pregnant wife, Adaeze Destiny Ikpeama, to stupor and still stormed the hospital she was admitted to kill her by removing her oxygen mask.

Neighbours were said to have rushed the 28-year-old mother of two to hospital after he beat her to stupor at their Lagos residence on Saturday. However, Ikpeama was said to have stormed the hospital and removed her oxygen mask, suffocating her.

Vanguard quoted a source as saying the man had been beating the deceased since they got married in 2014. He said efforts by both families to settle the crisis yielded no result. He said the COVID-19 lockdown made it worse as the man turned her into a punching bag.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesman of the state police command, confirmed the incident. He said the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation
