Bandits have killed 13 people and injured seven others in a series of attacks in Zangon Kataf, Kauru and Chikun Local Government Areas of Kaduna State.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said about 56 houses were razed down by the criminals.
According to Mr Aruwan, the report followed feedback by troops under Operation Safe Haven, OPSH.
The statement said: “Armed bandits attacked one Irmiya Godwin and his brother as they returned from their farm in Gora Gan village of Zangon Kataf LGA, Irmiya Godwin was killed, while his brother escaped.
In another incident in Kizachi village of Kauru LGA, the commissioner said 10 people were killed, four were injured while 56 houses and 16 motorcycles were razed down.
Those killed in the attack are: “Esther Bulus; Maria Bulus (one-year-old daughter of Esther); Dije Ibrahim; Awuki Ali; Yakubu Ali; Dije Waziri and Joseph Ibrahim.
“The injured are; Cecilia Aku; Yakubu Idi; Godiya Saleh and Moses Adamu who are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
“In Masaka village in Chikun Local Government one Duza Bamaiyi was killed while two others were injured however troops mobilized to the location to repel the attack.
“Similarly, armed bandits killed one Zakka Pada in Kurmin Kaduna of Chikun local government area, and left one Pada Dalle injured,” the statement added.
Mr Aruwan revealed that Governor Nasir El-Rufai noted the report with sadness and prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain, sent his condolences to their families and wished the injured citizens a quick recovery.
