Former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose has rained curses on some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants opposed to his preferred governorship choice, Chief Bisi Kolawole, for the 2022 poll.
In a viral video on various social media platforms obtained by our correspondent, Fayose, during a campaign tour of Ijero, invoked curses on them.
He said in the video: “Those contesting the PDP ticket with you should fall sick. Those who are going to herbalists to hypnotise you should fall sick. And those in higher authorities they depend on, God should unseat them”.
Defending his actions, Fayose said: “I believe I have not done anything wrong for doing that for Kolawole. When Professor Eleka was contesting I laid my hands on his head and I prayed that God should fight those who were trying to oppose his victory.
“Even myself while contesting in 2014 against Fayemi, I rained curses on my enemies that God should subdue them.
“So the same thing I did for Kolawole I am still maintaining that whoever opposes him God should subdue them.
“Even if it is me, my wife or anyone, God should subdue them because this is a political contest”.
Fayose’s political camp under the aegis Osoko Political Association had been in disarray for sometimes with many of its associates up in arms against the ex-Governor for adopting Kolawole against alleged agreement reached to throw the contest wide open.
But reacting to the viral video, a political aide of one of the leading aspirants and former Deputy Governor, Prof. Olusola Eleka, Adebisi Adeola, described the incident as a show of sheer rascality by Fayose.
Adeola stated the ex-Governor was desperate to govern Ekiti by proxy going by the political happenings in the party, saying Fayose’s support for Kolawole’s candidature “was not in the best interest of PDP but rather to satiate his insatiable selfish interest”.
He blamed the ex-Governor for the crisis rocking the party, saying “the only problem PDP is grappling with in Ekiti is Fayose’s shenanigans to pocket the party to his own benefit, not minding its future”.
Adeola claimed Fayose’s inherent style of bullying people would be decimated in the coming PDP governorship primaries, saying party members were ready to disgrace him this time around.
“PDP belongs to all of us and the party is not Fayose’s property or the wishy-washy followers to do hatchet job of the opposition.
“The height of this is that Mr Fayose has been putting calls through to a number of loyalists of Professor Eleka and raining curses on them to withdraw their support which had been rebuffed,” he said.
