Police in Ogun State have taken two men on a motorcycle into custody after they reportedly tried to avoid a patrol team.
The team caught up with them, conducted a search, and allegedly found a locally-made pistol, ammunition and fetish items on them.
Police took them in, saying they were on their way to a robbery operation.
Rasheed Ayinde, 20, and Matthew Oladipupo, 33, were arrested on Tuesday when the Divisional Police Officer for Onipanu Division, Ota, Bamidele Job was on patrol with his men and sighted the suspects.
Police said the two men attempted to make a U-turn on seeing the patrol team but were stopped by the policemen.
A statement by police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said a search on the suspects led to the recovery of one locally-made pistol, one live cartridge and assorted charms from them.
Abimbola said the two have confessed that they were on their way to carry out a robbery operation when the patrol team accosted them.
They also claimed to be living in Abeokuta, but operate in Onipanu and Atan Ota area of the state.
