Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers in the Olambe area of Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Lukman Olanrewaju, 27, and Shola Alabi, 28, were arrested on Sunday following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Ajuwon Divisional Headquarters, SP Andrew Akinseye.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Oyeyemi said the distress call was received about the robbery incident around 5pm on Sunday.
According to him, the police were informed that a three-man armed robbery gang was operating in the Olambe area and that the members shot a commercial motorcyclist, who was later identified as Anas Usman, and snatched his motorcycle.
He said “Upon the distress call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with the collaboration of the So-Safe Corps, two of the robbers were arrested.
“Recovered from them were one-cut-to size locally-made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle.
“The victim was quickly taken to hospital for treatment, while effort is on to apprehend the remaining member of the gang.”
The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution. ,,
