Hon. [Dr.] Dolapo Enitan Badru, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Lagos Island Constituency 1, has for the seventh time since he was elected distributed Seven hundred and fifty (750) Work Equipment: 250 Sewing Machines, 250 Motorized Pepper Grinding Machines, 200 Hair Dryer Machines to Artisans and Traders across the Political wards in his Constituency at the Lagos Island Local Government Area Office, Lagos.
As part of his economic plan to reduce unemployment among the Constituents on Lagos Island, Hon. [Dr.] Badru in partnership with Industrial Training Fund Institute, organised one-day Mushroom Cultivation training programme for fifty (50) young adults.
He also disbursed Start-up funds to forty (40) Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs. The Beneficiaries were given Hundred Thousand Naira (#100,000) each.
Citizen NewsNG reports that Twenty Lagos Island Youths were trained in Information and Communications Technology: the Trainees were gifted twenty (20) Laptop Computers to further broaden their Computer-Digital knowledge for self-development and actualization.
To ensure unhindered access to Qualitative Medicare and improve the quality of life the Constituents, Hon.(Dr.) Badru facilitated Health Insurance Package for three hundred and fifty
(350) indigents at the rate of One hundred and fifty thousand naira (#150,000) each.
In an Exclusive Interview with Citizen Magazine, Hon. [Dr] Badru said “the Empowerment and social Intervention Initiative cut across ethnicity and religion”.
“The Beneficiaries were carefully shortlisted to enrol the set of Residents that actually needed the support”, he stated.
On what inspired his action towards Citizen Empowerment and Social Intervention, Hon. (Dr.) Badru said: “The Initiative was specifically designed to alleviate poverty, support and boost local Trade and Businesses”
“I must take good care of my People”. He reiterated.
He however advised the Beneficiaries to make judicious use of the work tools and other gifts, a gesture that would encourage him to do more.
Alh. Ganiu Sodiq, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress on Lagos Island Local Government described the Initiative as laudable and timely.
“Hon. Badru is a True Representative of his Constituency. Numerous Empowerment Programmes were organised in the past for the benefit of mankind”, Alh. Sadiq explained.
One of the Beneficiaries who was presented with a Motorized Pepper Grinding Machine , Alhaja Modinat Bashua appreciated the kind gesture of the Federal Legislator. She said:
“I sincerely thank Hon. Badru for this Support. Since I had accident which resulted into amputation. He paid for my medical bills during that period; placed me on monthly stipend and ensure that I did not suffer”.
Another, Beneficiary, Alh. Jimoh said: “This will improve my Tailoring Job and generate more funds for me to take care of my family; it will expand my business as well”.
Jimoh urged well meaning Nigerians to emulate Dr. Badru’s kind gesture as this would make positive impacts in the lives of the Citizenry.
While responding to questions from Citizen NewsNG/Citizen Magazine, the Supervisor for the Environment on Lagos Island Local Government Area, Hon. Moshood Eletu eulogised the Exemplary Leadership Style and virtues of Hon. [Dr.] Dolapo Badru. He described him as a Gentleman and True Progressive.
“I appreciate his efforts geared towards giving back to the society in the areas of social services and empowerment. This programme is laudable and worthy of emulation”, Hon. Eletu said.
He however charged other Politicians to follow the footstep of Hon.[Dr.] Badru.
