Frontline House of Representatives Member representing Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1, Dr. Enitan Dolapo Badru has been re-appointed as Chairman Standing Committee on Industry of the 10th National Assembly.
The Speaker, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas made the announcement during plenary session on Thursday.
One hundred and thirty-four (134) standing Committees were constituted at the Green Chamber.
The composition of the standing committees is in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian constitution and the House standing rules.
This is to empower the Legislative body to perform oversight functions on Government Agencies and Programmes. In addition, it is charged with the responsibility of specific issues relating to National importance.
At the 9th National Assembly, Dr. Badru chaired the same Committee.
Following his Qualitative Representation and outstanding Performance, Dr. Badru was unanimously re-appointed.
Records shows that Dr. Badru has sponsored numerous Bills and moved motions at the House of Representatives. They include:
The Mathematical Centre Act, Amendment Bill ( HB 355)
Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, Alteration Bill (HB 613)
Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act (Amendment Bill) Co- Sponsor, (HB 822)
Elderly and Vulnerable Persons Bill (HB 822)
Government Infrastructural Continuity (Establishment) Bill (HB-907)
The Lagos Federal Lawmaker also moved a Motion to resolve persistent Traffic gridlock at Apapa Port and its environment.
In addition, Dr. Badru called for compensation for the victims of Abule Ado Bomb explosion.
While speaking with Newsmen in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, he reiterated his commitment to offer responsive and Qualitative Representation to Constituents and facilitate more Community Development Projects to Lagos Island Federal Constituency 1.He also promised to empower the residents through his periodic Human Capital Development Initiative.
