A week after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sent the first batch of 28 ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening, the second batch is ready to be submitted, IgbereTV has learned.
According to the Tribune, President Tinubu will be sending the names of the nominees to the Senate for confirmation on Tuesday night or very early Wednesday morning.
A Senator who confirmed this to us stated that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today (Wednesday) to enable the Senate to conclude with the screening process before proceeding on recess.
There are indications that President Bola Tinubu will give additional Ministerial slot to Kaduna state as part of political calculation to make further in- road in the North as well as to compensate the North West zone in particular for voting massively for him in the 2023 General election..
This is according a credible source from Aso Rock Presidential Villa while speaking with with newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday.
The source who didn’t want his name mentioned said that a former Governorship candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Honourable Sani Sha’aban is being considered for the second Ministerial slot for Kaduna State.
Sha’aban, a former member of the House of Representatives and a close ally of President Bola Tinubu, was the ACN Governorship Candidate for Kaduna State during the 2011 Governorship election, won by the PDP candidate, Ibrahim Yakowa.
Although the Aso Rock source said the President is stuck between picking the second minister from either Kaduna or Kano State, but he disclosed that the odds favour Sha’aban due to his close relationship with President Tinubu and also as a foundation member of the ACN, founded by Tinubu while he was Governor of Lagos State.
According to the source, with the appointment of Nasir El-Rufai, which did not go down well with some people, picking Sha’aban as the second minister from Kaduna State, will not only bring about the desired stability in the North, but will also galvanise more support base for his re- election in 2027.
