Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan (KAO) Foundation has commenced the Second Edition of Free Summer Coaching and Skills Acquisition Trainings for Primary and Secondary School Students on Lagos Island Local Government and its Neighbouring Communities. The Coaching Classes start July 31st through August 31st, 2023 with Primary and Secondary Classes: Primary 2 to 6 and JSS 1 to SS 2.
Prince Taiwo Oyekan, the Executive Director of the Foundation made this known while speaking with Journalists in Lagos, Nigeria.
“The Foundation has recruited experienced Teachers and Instructors to teach the Students. We have drawn a Comprehensive Timetable in which the students would undergo Skills Acquisition and Computer-Digital Literacy Trainings”, Prince Oyekan said.
Continuing, He said that the Students would be taught Skills and Vocational Trainings such as Tailoring and Fashion Designing, Hair Dressing and Cosmetology, Catering and Baking, Computer-Digital Literacy, Soap and Disinfectant Production.
“As part of our Core objectives, Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation would continue to invest more resources in the Education sector and Skills Acquisition Training to reduce illiteracy rate, Out-of-school problem and unemployment on Lagos Island Local Government”, He vowed.
The Executive Director who also doubled as Deputy Leader of Lagos Island Local Government, restated the Foundation’s commitment to the development of Universal Basic Education in Lagos and Nigeria to complement the efforts of the State and Federal Governments.
While collaborating Prince Oyekan’s statement, the Coordinator of the Free Summer Coaching, Mrs. Yemisi Chude said that the second edition is the continuity of the goals and objectives of the Foundation.
Mrs. Chude stated that the Foundation is poised to instill knowledge with well trained Teachers in a safe and conducive learning environment.
“At Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation, We are Training and Preparing the students for the next level in Life”, She continued.
She encouraged Parents and Guardians to take good care of their Children and Wards.
Mrs. Chude stated that students and the general public should expect a 100% Effectivess and Efficiency in Teaching and Learning methods.
Recall that in the first edition of the Kolawole Ajibade Oyekan Foundation Free Summer Coaching held in 2022, A Scholarship of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) was presented to Miss Kanyinsola Yusuf, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) student of Government Girls Grammar School, Ikoyi, Lagos after emerging as the Overall Best Student in a Debate Competition organised by the Foundation.
In addition, Learning Materials such as School Bags, Exercise Books and Mathematical Sets were gifted to the Students.
Prince Oyekan hinted that at the end of the Summer Coaching, the Foundation would Present Scholarships and different Prizes to Outstanding Students to encourage them.
He advised the Participating Students to Study harder and be of good character during and after the Summer Coaching.
