The President of the National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Tajudeen Baruwa, has been released from police custody.
He cautioned members against making inflammatory statements that could destabilise the union.
Baruwa clarified the events leading to his detention with Tajudeen Agbede last Friday during a briefing in Abuja saying that the police took action because some groups in the union planned to protest at the national secretariat in Garki 2, Abuja.
“We are calling on our members across the states to be calm, peaceful, and law-abiding in their daily activities. We want to assure you that the matter is being addressed and it will soon be resolved.” he said urging them to prioritise the interests of the union over their personal matters.
He further appealed to all members to be law-abiding and avoid actions that could disturb public peace.
