During the ongoing alleged murder trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, a prosecution witness, DSP Olusegun Bamidele, informed the Lagos State High Court at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Monday that it was revealed during the investigation that Michael Ataga’s drink, the CEO of Super TV, was spiked.
Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, is on trial for the alleged offense alongside Adedapo Quadri and her sister, Chioma Egbuchu.
In a previous court session, Bamidele stated that Ojukwu confessed to spiking Ataga’s drink during the investigation, a confession he believed.
During cross-examination by Quadri’s lawyer, Mr. Babatunde Busari, Bamidele was asked to indicate where it was written in the statements of the first and second defendants that the deceased’s drink was spiked.
Bamidele responded that it was established during the course of the investigation.
The witness further revealed that Ojukwu and the deceased consumed a substance and alcoholic drinks together.
They ordered additional sets of the substance when the first set finished, and a dispatch rider delivered the additional substance for them to smoke.
Despite efforts to locate the dispatch rider proving futile, Bamidele asserted the information was contained in the first defendant’s statement.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned the case until February 20 for the continuation of the trial.
Ojukwu and the two others were arraigned on 12 October, 2021, facing charges of conspiracy, murder, and stabbing, while Egbuchu is accused of stealing an iPhone 7 belonging to the late Ataga.
