A suspected motorcycle snatcher has been lynched by an angry mob in Magama-Gumau town of Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday when the young man, whose identity remains unknown, was seen loitering near a Mosque.
Eyewitnesses, in an interview with Daily Post on Monday, said the unidentified man stole a motorcycle parked nearby, before he was spotted by the owner who raised an alarm.
It was gathered that despite abandoning the stolen motorcycle and attempting to flee, the suspected thief was caught by the angry mob.
He was subjected to severe beating with planks and other objects until he succumbed to his injuries.
By the time the police arrived, the mob had dispersed, leaving the thief dead at the scene.
His remains were later taken to Toro General Hospital morgue.
Efforts to contact the Bauchi State Police Command were not successful as of the time of filing this report.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakili did not respond to messages and calls put across to him.
