Dethroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero
Preparations are underway to restore deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, to his palace, according to Muazu Magaji, a former Commissioner of Works.
In a social media post, Magaji revealed that Bayero’s flag has been mounted on his car, signaling that he would retake the place currently being occupied by Sanusi.
“Now the emir’s flag has been mounted on his car. We are making preparation to take to the palace,” he wrote.
This development comes after Governor Abba Yusuf signed the repealed Kano Emirates Council Law, ordering deposed Emirs to leave their palaces and hand over power within 48 hours.
While other Emirs complied with the order, Bayero’s return has sparked tension in the state.
Upon his arrival at Aminu Kano International Airport, Bayero was greeted by a large crowd of supporters, who chanted Quranic passages and pledged their loyalty.
However, Governor Yusuf on Saturday, ordered Bayero’s immediate arrest, citing concerns about creating tension in the state.
