Fubara
Three Rivers State Commissioners loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike have resigned from the cabinet of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The commissioners are Prince Chinedu Mmom [education], Gift Worlu [housing], and Austen Ben-Chioma [environment].
The resignation comes amid the supremacy battle between Messers Fubara and Wike.
In his resignation letter addressed to the state governor through the secretary to the state government,Mr Mmom cited the “toxic” working environment as the reason for his resignation.
“It is a truism that a calm, safe and friendly environment would stimulate efficient service delivery and enhanced productivity.
“It is, however, unfortunate to note that my current workspace has become toxic and no longer guarantees a favourable environment to enable me realise my set targets for the education sector in the state.
“There is loss of trust, animosity, and sharp division among colleagues in the same cabinet, which is unhealthy and very unfortunate,” he said.
He stated that such an environment will make it impossible to achieve “my set targets for the education sector in the state.”
Similarly, Mr Worlu, in his resignation letter dated May 15 and addressed to the SSG, thanked Me Furaba for the privilege to serve in his government.
Similarly, the state’s commissioner for environment, Austen Ben-Chioma, attributed his decision to the lingering political crisis in the state.
He said: “I want to appreciate Your Excellency for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the State Executive Council.
“My decision to resign is due to the political crisis befalling our dear state and other personal reasons.”
