Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, General Manager Of Lagos State Parking Authority
The General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, has issued a stern warning to illegal car park operators in the state, emphasizing the hazards associated with their operations and unregulated parking activities.
Mrs. Adelabu conveyed this warning in a statement released from her office on Wednesday. She highlighted recent incidents that underscored the risks of using unauthorized parking facilities and unapproved road sections for parking, which not only endanger public safety but also hinder the state’s efforts in traffic management.
“Operating or using unregulated car parks poses significant risks to vehicle owners and pedestrians,” cautioned Mrs. Adelabu. Such facilities often lack oversight and safety measures, making them prone to security breaches and accidents.
Addressing the impact of uncoordinated parking on traffic flow, Mrs. Adelabu emphasized that converting unapproved road sections into makeshift parking areas is illegal and disrupts traffic patterns, leading to congestion and increasing accident risks.
Regarding unauthorized individuals soliciting parking fees, Mrs. Adelabu stated that Lagos State no longer tolerates such activities. “The involvement of touts or unauthorized individuals in soliciting parking fees is illegal and should be reported immediately,” she declared, noting that their actions confuse the public and disrupt order.
“We are determined to eradicate the menace of touting and unauthorized parking activities in Lagos State,” Mrs. Adelabu affirmed. She reiterated LASPA’s commitment to enforcing parking regulations rigorously and promoting good parking culture.
“We are deeply concerned about the risks posed by illegal car park operators and unauthorized parking activities,” Mrs. Adelabu expressed. “Our priority is to safeguard public safety and ensure strict compliance with Lagos State Parking Policy.”
Residents and visitors are urged to use only approved parking facilities displaying clear regulatory signage. Suspicious or illegal parking operations should be promptly reported to LASPA for immediate action.
