Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ruled out any chance of reconciliation with Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during a media briefing to mark his first year in office, Wike reaffirmed his decision to distance himself from Fubara.
Wike emphasized that his current priority is fulfilling the mandate of President Bola Tinubu, rather than backing the Rivers State governor.
The rift between Wike and Fubara, which began shortly after Fubara took office, has caused significant disruption within the state, including creating divisions in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Despite efforts by President Tinubu and other political figures to mediate, the conflict has persisted.
Wike speaking, made it clear that his commitment to Fubara’s governorship was sincere but that he has no regrets about moving on.
“In good conscience, I fought for Fubara to become governor without any regrets and you now say you don’t want to be part of the family; no problem. Aregbesola was brought by Tinubu but he’s no longer with the president again.” Wike stated.
He further added, “In all honesty, I can tell you that there is no going back and my people know. What support? Have I come out of the one I did? Some people don’t play politics of integrity, but I do. He’s the one that say ‘dey your dey’ so let me ‘dey my dey.’”
Wike assured that his focus remains on delivering the President’s agenda for the FCT, undistracted by the ongoing discord.
