In its continued effort to make free healthcare service available to residents across the five divisions of the state,
the Lagos State Government has concluded plans to hold medical outreach, Alaafia Eko on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 12 designated centres.
A Press statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Ministry Of Health, Mr.
Tunbosun Ogunbanwo stated.
During a Press conference, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Dr. (Mrs) Kemi Ogunyemi hinted that the health intervention initiative will be held across the six Health Districts in the State.
Continuing, she said: “We have finalized preparations to resume the Alaafia Eko medical outreach on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 12 centres across our six health districts. This outreach, which should have resumed earlier, was temporarily put on hold due to the cholera outbreak, which has now been successfully contained,”.
The Health District 1 Designated centres are Ikotun-Igando LCDA Secretariat and Meiran Motor Park.
In Health District 2, Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA, Mikkson Onas Hall and Ikorodu North LCDA, Farm Settlement Community Primary School, Odogunyan.
Health District 3
Ikoyi Obalende LCDA, Old School of Nursing, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and Eredo LCDA, Eredo Local Council Development Area Secretariat, Eredo.
Health District 4
Apapa LGA, Marian Academy, 144 Gaskiya Road, Badia, Apapa-Iganmu
and Surulere LGA, Surulere LG Secretariat, 24, Alhaji Masha Road, Surulere.
Health District 5
Oriade LCDA Secretariat, Alh Baruwa Street, Satellite Town and Layeni PHC Compound, 246, Ojo Road, Ajegunle.
Health District 6
Isolo LCDA, Ansarudeen Primary School, Ile-Ibadan Bus Stop, Mushin Road, Isolo.
and Odi-Olowo LCDA, Ajenifuja Primary School No. 2, Ajenifuja Street, Mushin.
According to Dr. Ogunyemi, the initiative was conceived by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as part of his administration’s Eko Cares, A Scheme designed to alleviate the economic hardship faced by residents.
“Alaafia Eko is specifically designed to address the rising costs of medications and healthcare services”, She emphasized
she however enjoined residents to take advantage of the medical Outreach to
receive basic medical care.
The Health Intervention programme will feature free Screening and Testing, Treatment of minor ailments, Free medications, insurance enrollment, Eye checks and Distribution of eyeglasses, Health talks and Counseling.
Recall that the first phase of the outreach was held May 30, 2024 in which 50,000 residents received free Qualitative medical treatments.
In addition, the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) will open
Registration Centres in the Premises to enable Beneficiaries register for the State’s Personal Identification Card.
