American business magnate and co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates, will be visiting Nigeria on Tuesday
Gates, who is a co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will be in Nigeria to discuss solutions to a wide range of development challenges.
This was made known in a statement issued by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Abuja, Nigerian capital.
The statement noted that Gates is expected to meet with Nigerian government officials, youth and partners to discuss solutions to health, agriculture, poverty challenges and boosting nutrition in Africa.
Along with other foundation leaders, Gates will engage with experts in Nigeria’s primary health care, agriculture, and nutrition who are advancing progress across Africa despite economic hurdles.
He will also take part in a pan-African virtual dialogue aimed at tackling malnutrition through integrated solutions in health, agriculture, and financing.
The statement further noted that a Musician, educator, and humanitarian, Jon Batiste, will join Gates for the discussion.
Since 2000 when it was established, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has collaborated with African regional institutions, national governments, and local communities in 49 countries, contributing funding and scientific expertise to support their change agendas.
These partnerships have been instrumental in driving successful health, agriculture, equality, and anti-poverty initiatives across the continent.
The statement added that the foundation has pledged over $7 billion through 2026 to support African countries and institutions in developing and implementing innovative strategies to address hunger, disease, gender inequality, and poverty.
