Nigerians have expressed their readiness to switch to other telecom providers if MTN Nigeria shuts down its operations due to the current economic challenges.
Recall that the telecom giant recently called for its first tariff hike in 11 years, citing the need to manage soaring costs and maintain service quality.
They warned that without this increase, the financial stability of the sector and service standards would continue to deteriorate.
In response to this on Tribune Online’s social media platforms, Nigerians made it clear they would migrate to other telecom services if MTN followed through with its warning to shut down.
Reacting on Facebook, a user, @Deji Ajayi Glorious, said, “It is not our problem. We are going to look for another network.”
Another user, @Emma Asukwu wrote, We have alternatives so we don’t need to negotiate “
@David Stephen reacted, “Please they should shut down. I have shut down my MTN SIM for over a year now. I don’t recharge it; MTN please pack out.”
Another Facebook user, @Samuel Ololade wrote, “Glo to the rescue, double data all the way.”
Reacting on X, formerly known as Twitter, @ThatGiovanni94 tweeted, “Finally they are going.. it has been a rough ride, bye!! Yellow.”
