MohBad’s Father
By Chioma Osuji
The father to late Nigerian singer, Mohbad, opened up on the ongoing issues surrounding his son’s untimely demise, admitting that his life got better after this son died.
Joseph Aloba, who’s currently in a bitter and prolonged DNA test battle with his son’s widow, Wunmi, told media personality Mrlilgaga, on Wednesday, that if he could see his son again, he would tell him first to watch the family he wanted to marry from.
He admitted to have issues with Wunmi, although he claimed not to hate her, he however, confessed that she and her family stopped Mohbad from caring for him as his father.
“They did a lot concerning that boy (Mohbad). All his landed property is in their possession. Even the land he bought for me to build a church, I forced him to buy and mold the blocks on it, which was later used to bury him,” he added.
When his host asked if he was fighting for justice for Mohbad’s death or for the DNA of his grandson, Liam, he told his host not to address the child as his grandson because the issue was yet to be finalized.
He claimed that he was having issues changing his lawyer and promised that the DNA test will be done as soon as that issue was rectified.
The teary-eyed Joseph, said that he cried many times for his son who had great plans to make his life better.
“Two weeks before his death, he took me to the house he wanted to buy and told me he was going to buy it after the completion of his tour, for which I know he had completely paid,” he stated.
Recounting early memories, he told his interviewer that he went into music after Mohbad was born and he became his backup singer at age one. However, his wife was a cheat and they had to separate when his son was only seven.
He claimed that his other son Adura, has planned to disown him as his father because of the many controversies surrounding the death of Mohbad and its aftermath.
He also revealed that he has released about nine tracks since the death of his son, maintaining that it was “thinking” that led him back to the studio.
Mohbad’s father admitted that his life got better after his son died, adding that his spirit called to helpers because he had the intention to do before his life was cut short in September 2023.
“Let me just say yes, my life got better after Mohbad’s death because he is my friend. He had it in plan to do many things for me but they didn’t allow him to do them. After his death, it was the spirit of Mohbad, and that of God combined together that began to send people to assist me,” he confessed.
He gave a tour of the block industry he acquired through the help of well meaning people and the truck he was gifted for his business as well as the Toyota Highlander for his personal use.
“Even the car and everything I have now, it was people that gave them to me and it is beyond ordinary. So it is the spirit of Mohbad and God that led those people to give me all I have now,”
“Those were the things he was meant to be doing for me, but they didn’t allow him to do them,” he added.
When asked if Mohbad’s fans should anticipate a burial worth of his status, he replied that he would be buried without giving a definite date.
