Executive Chairman, ORIGIN Tech Group, Prince S.J Samuel, has commended Duns Farms Limited for its agro-innovation approach to agricultural advancement with its integrated farm at Ibese-Imasayi in the Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Samuel made the commendation at the Duns Farm at the 1st Year Anniversary of the Farm/Official Flag-off of Large-Scale Agricultural Equipment which were supplied by ORIGIN Automobile Works (OAW).
He said the pragmatic approach adopted by Duns Farm aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda of revolutionalising the agriculture value-chain aimed amongst others at transitioning smallholder farming to precision agriculture through large-scale mechanization nationwide to boost national food productivity and security within the next five years. He reiterated that this move by Duns Farm in advancing agricultural growth in the Yewa North corridor of Ogun State, is a boost to the State’s economy, and neighbouring states across the Southwest and invariably making food available to Nigerians.
He also stated that the company’s empowerment and job creation initiatives for the rural citizenry through its livestock programme is a novel idea as it portends huge investment in human capital and job creation guaranteed to improve their living standards and further reiterated ORIGIN Tech Group’s assurances to continue to partner with Duns Farm to further strengthen its drive to support the national food security quest of Mr. President, not only in Ogun State but across the country through the provision of the required large-scale mechanisation equipment.
On his part, Mr. Olusola Martins, the field Agronomist at Duns Farm said the farm’s agro-innovation investment in agriculture is massive and calls for effective partnership, with corporate institutions like ORIGIN Automobile Works (OAW) considering Duns Farm’s envisioned significant contribution to the economy of Ogun and other Southwest States as well as Nigeria in the long run.
In his response, Mr. Jacob Oladele, the farm’s Operations Manager, who spoke on the authority of the Chairman of Duns Farm, Mr. Bosun Tijani who is also the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, said they are very elated about the visit of the OAW team especially the Executive Chairman who has been of tremendous support with his personality, intellect, as well as the remarkable work that ORIGIN Automobile Works has brought into Duns Farm by having been supportive all the way, providing the needed large-scale tractors, combine harvesters, boom sprayers and sundry precision agriculture equipment, and that the move have always been to explore avenues of collaboration between Duns Farm and ORIGIN Tech Group.
He added that the idea behind the company’s huge investment is to develop a world-class business with skills that will meet the growing requirement for food security and the partnership with ORIGIN Automobile Works just simply ticked that box of playing a pivotal role in transforming the production components of Duns Farm within the larger food systems value chain.
Oladele stated that this has prompted the company’s empowerment of over 100 rural households across the farm’s processes, with an emphasis on women. “With this, we have laid a solid foundation that could be multiplied to spread across the whole of the country, and even the rest of Africa in our expansion plan.
