Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has publicly criticized gospel singer Tope Alabi for allegedly refusing to perform at her surprise birthday party, despite being paid N4 million by her fans.

The incident, which has sparked widespread attention, unfolded on Friday when Alabi reportedly backed out upon discovering Anjorin was the celebrant.

According to multiple reports, Tope Alabi had been contracted to perform at the event and received payment in advance.

However, upon arriving at the venue and realizing it was in honor of the controversial actress, she declined to take the stage. Anjorin, in response, shared what she claims is a receipt of the N4 million payment, accusing the singer of unprofessionalism.

In a passionate statement, Anjorin expressed her disappointment, highlighting her past support for Alabi during turbulent times, including the singer’s publicized fallout with the late Prophet Ajanaku.

She argued that professionalism should have trumped any personal reservations Alabi might have had. “Aunty Tope, my fans paid you ₦4 million, and I have the evidence with me. Even if it was ₦500,000, were you not an actress before? In acting, we were taught that if you’re to kiss your enemy on a movie set, you must do it,” Anjorin said.

She continued, “When the world rejected you, I stood by you. I played your songs—not because I needed them, but to support you. No matter how terrible you think I am, I’m not as bad as Prophet Ajanaku.

“You saw the goodness of God in my life when you were outside my place and called me your sister. No matter how much they paid you, you shouldn’t have reacted that way. If you judge me, you are not God.”
