Kwara Deputy Governor expresses concern over medical tourism
The Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi has stressed the need to adequately equip the various medical centres in the Country to stem medical tourism.
Mr Alabi stated this in Ilorin while receiving the Director, Naval Medical Services, Rear Admiral Abubakar Yusuf and his team in his office.
The Deputy Governor stated that money that would have been used to develop the Country was being spent annually by Nigerians for medical treatment overseas.
He noted that the health of the people is key to the present administration promsing that the government would fix it’s hospitals to ensure health service delivery across the State.
Mr Alabi called on the three tiers of government to rise to the occasion to meet the health need of the people.
The Deputy Governor described the State as one of the peaceful States in the Country pledging that the government would maintain the tempo.
He commended the Nigerian Navy for its support in maintaining peace in the state.
The Director, Naval Medical Services, Rear Admiral Abubakar Yusuf commended the State for its hospitalility and the cordial relationship existing between the Service, Offa Community and the State at large.
Rear Admiral Yusuf who is a Surgeon said the team are in Offa for retreat involving the Naval Medical arm.
The Director noted that the Navy have been engaged in the training and retraining of its personnel describing the Medical line as dynamic hence the need for the Navy to be up to date.
