Lagos celebrates World Cleanup Day with children
The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) said it used the 2019 World Cleanup Day to engage various stakeholders, particularly children, to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness in the state.
LAWMA Spokesperson, Folashade Kadiri, said the authority believed in catching them young because children are the future of effective waste management.
She commended corporate bodies which partnered with LAWMA during this year’s World Cleanup Day to create awareness on the importance of a cleaner, healthier and livable environment.
Kadiri urged residents to support the Lagos State initiative of Blue Box to make the Lagos metropolis cleaner and enrich residents by sorting waste for recycling.
September 21 is World Cleanup Day, a global social action programme aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris.
