A 75-year-old man, Ali Isah, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s three-year-old daughter.
Northern City News gathered in Lafia on Thursday that the suspect was arrested on Monday in Kandere village in the Kokona Local Government Area of the state following a report lodged by the villagers.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Muhammad Mahmoud-Fari, disclosed this while parading the suspect in Lafia.
He said the victim was currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the Karu Local Government Area.
The NSCDC boss appealed to members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to be vigilant and wary of those who lurk around their children and wards.
In an interview with our correspondent, the suspect confessed to the crime.
Isah said he had two wives and 11 children and expressed remorse for his action. The grandfather accused “spiritual forces” for his actions.
