The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) is the first regulator in West Africa to carry out trials for the fifth-generation network technology (5G).
According to Umar Danbatta, the executive vice-chairman of NCC, there would be a three months trial period before actual approval and rollout in the country.
Trials have been carried out in Abuja, Calabar and Lagos.
Asides faster internet speed, it is expected that 5G will reduce the cost of data, control machines, objects and devices.
