The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurasheed Akanbi (Telu I), on Tuesday highlighted the tasks before the Western Nigerian Security Network, Amotekun.
He said the security outfit should expand its scope of activities beyond the battle against kidnapping, armed robbery and destructive herdsmen, who wreck havoc in the region.
Oba Akanbi said whenever the outfit begins its operations, it should beamed the searchlight on ritialists who are killing for money.
Lamenting ritual killings in the region, he recalled that a part four student of Lagos State University (LASU) recently fell victim of the criminal tendency.
The monarch said while some kidnappers and violent herdsmen may be strangers to Yorubaland, many of those who engage in ritual killings are natives.
He attributed ritual killings to the loss of focus by lazy youths who erroneously perceive the dastardly act as a shorter route to wealth.
Oba Akanbi spoke in Lagos at a ceremony marking the 70th birthday of the frontline journalist and Special Adviser on Chieftaincy in Lagos State, Prince Bayo Osiyemi.
Raining royal curses on ritualists, he said they were on the way to perdition.
Oba Akanbi, who spoke in Yoruba, stressed:”We have herdsmen in Yoruba. We have kidnappers. But, I want Amotekun should also go after money ritualists who kill for money.
“Our youths should know that there is no future there. The are ruining their lives. Nobody can get rich through ritual killings.These youths are lazy. The only route to wealth is by working. “
