She said, “The case is currently under investigation. It has been transferred to the state CID and investigation is ongoing. We have arrested the man (the lab technician) that gave the boy the injection.”
According to a friend of the deceased, Joy Alade, who had accompanied to the hospital to receive treatment for toothache, Kanayo was advised to extract a decaying tooth so as to prevent it from affecting other teeth and causing more harm.”
A senior medical officer at the Kashere General Hospital, Dr Haruna Cham, described Kanayo’s death as sad, sorrowful and unfortunate, noting that the deceased reacted in the process and developed severe respiratory distress but was resuscitated.
“He was given some medication that aborted the reaction. His condition returned to normal and he requested to be discharged. He was told not to go home yet, only to be brought in dead after about 2 hours,” he stated.
Meanwhile the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ahmed Gana, has said the death will be investigated.
